Tributes for more than 30 members of Blue Mountains LAC

SPRINGWOOD, Blue Mountains, NSW, Australia – Last week 30 police officers and staff from the Blue Mountains LAC were honoured with an individual citation for their efforts during the October 2013 bushfire emergency.
Blue Mountains LAC Superintendent Daryl Jobson handed out the awards.
A Local Area Commander’s Commendation was also presented to Sgt Dallas Atkinson, the Blue Mountains Rescue Squad Coordinator, for his efforts during a very difficult and drawn-out vertical rescue of two rock climbers at Pierces Pass in May 2014.
A special presentation was made to the LAC’s retiring Police Chaplain Peter Kilkeary for his service over the past 17 years. He retires on Monday.
Families and colleagues attended the ceremony. Also in attendance was the Federal Member for Macquarie Susan Templeman, State Member for the Blue Mountains Trish Doyle, Blue Mountains Mayor Mark Greenhill, and Superintendent David Jones of the Blue Mountains RFS.
