Teenager airlifted to hospital after being rescued in Blue Mountains

KATOOMBA, Blue Mountains, NSW, Australia – A teenage boy remains in serious condition after being rescued from a rock ledge, where he had fallen in the New South Wales Blue Mountains, west of Sydney on Saturday.

The boy fell mid-morning on Saturday. Emergency responders were alerted around 10:50am and were quickly on the scene at Mitchell’s Ridge Road lookout, Mt Victoria.

Officers from the Blue Mountains Police Area Command said the boy, aged 15, was found with multiple injuries.

He had been with an organised group conducting adventure training.

Police Rescue, the NSW Ambulance Special Operations Unit, and the Rescue helicopter were called in, and a coordinated rescue operation commenced with the boy safely extracted.

He was taken to Westmead Children’s Hospital and remains in serious condition.
