Manhunt underway for group of four in NSW Central West

CENTRAL WEST, NSW, Australia – A gang of approximately four males have allegedly been involved in a 48 hour crime spree in the state’s Central West.

Multiple alleged crimes have been committed, while police have engaged the gang in two pursuits, both of which had to be called off for safety reasons.

The four males are still on the loose and police are working overtime to hunt them down.

A stolen SUV was destroyed by fire in the early hours of Friday morning, the latest incident to be reported.

The saga began around 7:00am on Wednesday when officers attached to the Orana Mid-Western Police District responded to reports a white Toyota Prado had been stolen from a property on Burraway Road, Rawsonville, near Dubbo.

Police arrived at the scene and commenced an investigation.

A short time later, the stolen Toyota Prado was involved in a police pursuit on Burraway Road which was terminated due to safety concerns.

Police say the SUV was seen at the scene of several property offences around Dubbo during Wednesday night and early the hours of Thursday morning, including the theft of three vehicles from homes on Burrabadine Road, Minore Road, and Mendooran Road in Dubbo.

Two of the vehicles have since been recovered, with the third a grey Mitsubishi Challenger station wagon registered EDU34E still missing.

Then about 3:00am on Thursday, police received reports of an attempted break and entering at a property on Peachville Road, Dubbo.

Police were told a group of approximately four males were disturbed by the property owner and were last seen leaving the property in the stolen SUV.

The SUV was also seen at the site of a fraud offence at a business on Cobra Street, Dubbo, a short time later.

Then about 11.20pm Thursday night, police sighted the stolen vehicle at Brocklehurst and initiated a pursuit which was terminated a short time later due to safety concerns.

The SUV when found destroyed by fire was in Yarra Place, Dubbo. It was discovered at 12.10am Friday.

Police are appealing for information from the public to assist with the ongoing investigation.
