Man attacked with machete in Central West home invasion

ORANGE, Central West, NSW, Australia – A vicious home invasion occurred on the weekend in the state’s Central West, which saw a man attacked with a machete.

Three armed people, two men and a woman, forced their way into a home in Orange around 2:50am on Saturday morning, demanding money from the occupants.

A man with a machete confronted a man and a woman living in the home demanding they hand over any valuables.

After the second man and the woman confronted the man, he was attacked with the machete causing a superficial injury to his left shoulder.

Police say they were told one of the intruders stayed at the doorway of the victims’ bedroom as the other two offenders stole electrical items from throughout the home.

The three invaders left the premises and police were alerted.

Officers attached to Central West Police District arrived a short time later and established a crime scene.

Orange Detectives and Bathurst Crime Scene attended and processed the scene.

One offender is described as being male of a stocky build, 175cm, short dark hair, about 40 years old, perceived as being of Aboriginal/ Torres Strait Islander appearance, wearing a dark jacket with a hood and long dark trousers.

The second male was described as being of a thinner build, around 30 years old, tanned complexion, and perceived as being of Aboriginal/ Torres Strait Islander appearance, wearing a dark coloured hooded jumper and dark pants.

The third person was described as a female of thin build, brown hair, around 30-40 years old, approximately 170 to 175cm tall, perceived as being of Aboriginal/ Torres Strait Islander appearance, wearing a dark hooded jumper and grey pants.

Investigations, police say are continuing.
