MUDGEE, NSW Central West, Australia – An alleged burglar appeared in a Mudgee court on Saturday charged with multiple offenses following a series of break-ins and car thefts in the Mudgee area.

Since early this month, residents in Mudgee in the state’s Central West have reported numerous instances of overnight break-ins and car thefts while they were asleep.

After an investigation by Mudgee General Duties and Detectives, a suspect was arrested near Lochiel Lane in Mudgee at approximately 11:15 a.m. on Friday.

Despite the extent and number of alleged crimes, the person arrested was a 14-year-old boy.

During the arrest, police allegedly found a key to a stolen Toyota Hilux utility vehicle and a folding knife in the boy’s possession. The stolen vehicle was recovered nearby.

The boy was taken to Mudgee Police Station and charged with seven offenses.

He was refused bail ahead of an appearance at the Children’s Court in Mudgee on Saturday.
