Climate change is reshaping weather systems and coastlines, altering where crops can be grown and which diseases thrive. Rising temperatures affect geopolitics, migration, ecosystems, health-care outcomes and the economy. According to the European Union’s Copernicus observation programme, 2022 was a year of climate extremes, and brought with it heatwaves, flooding and wildfires across the globe.

These weather events have outsized effects on the marginalised-droughts and flooding will affect billions of poorer people, especially across Africa, Asia and South America, damaging the social determinants of health.

Moderated by Economist Impact’s manager of Health practice, Emily Tiemann, the event features senior expert speakers including:

  • Margareta Laminto, Group chief commercial officer and group chief sustainability officer, Fullerton Health
  • Navjeewan Khosla, Partner, Novo Holdings
  • Patrick Osewe, Chief, Health Sector Group, Asian Development Bank
  • Swee Kheng Khor, Chief executive, Angsana Health
