Blue Mountains police nab serial car burglar

May 23, 2021

SPRINGWOOD, Blue Mountains, NSW, Australia – Police in the Blue Mountains last week set a trap for a serial car burglar who had been breaking into vehicles in the Blue Mountains on a regular basis.

Officers from Springwood set up patrols to target the offender. As a result on Thursday night, they caught the man at Blaxland. He had in his possession property that had been stolen from vehicles in the Blue Mountains area.

The man, aged 24, was taken to Springwood Police Station where investigators linked him to seven vehicle break-ins.

On further investigation, it was discovered the name the man had given arresting police was false.

On establishing his actual identity it was learned the man was wanted on a number of arrest warrants and was on parole.

One of the warrants was for revoking his parole, so police say he will be returned to prison while awaiting fresh charges on the seven Blue Mountains vehicle burglaries, as well as matters relating to the outstanding arrest warrants.
