Strike Force Raptor investigators make public appeal

Jul 17, 2018

Strike Force Raptor investigators on Tuesday were appealing for witnesses to a reported crash and road rage incident in the Blue Mountains last month.

Just before 3.30pm on Saturday 9 June 2018, a group of Finks outlaw motorcycle gang (OMCG) members and associates were travelling citybound on motorcycles and in cars on the Great Western Highway, Blaxland, when they became involved in an altercation with the occupants of a white BMW at traffic lights at Layton Avenue.

A short time later, officers from Blue Mountains Police Area Command drove across the incident and spoke to those who were on scene, however, many of the riders had already left the scene.

Police were told the BMW and one of the bikes collided, causing the rider to come off the bike. He was not injured.

Some of the group then hit and kicked the BMW while the occupants remained inside.

Officers from the Criminal Groups Squad’s Strike Force Raptor also attended the scene and assisted with speaking to the remaining members of the group before commencing an investigation.

As their inquiries continue, police are appealing for anyone who was at the location at the time and not yet spoken to police, to come forward.

Investigators would also like to speak with other witnesses, including occupants of vehicle travelling in the area around the time of the incident.

In particular, police are seeking further vision of the incident from mobile phones or dash cams.

Anyone with information, including relevant photos and videos, that may assist Strike Force Raptor can report it directly to investigators via the Strike Force Raptor online reporting page or call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Information provided to investigators will be treated in the strictest of confidence.
