US seeks to build nuclear-powered submarines for Australia

WASHINGTON D.C.: The Biden Administration and the Australian government are in discussions regarding the U.S. building the island nation’s first nuclear-powered submarines, which could spend longer times patrolling underwater, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Amidst China’s growing presence in the Indo-Pacific region, Australia has increased its defense spending in recent years.
The proposed agreement aims to provide Australia with its first nuclear-powered fleet by the mid-2030s.
