Two women struck by runaway car in Blue Mountains

SPRINGWOOD, Blue Mountains, NSW, Australia – A freak happening in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney, has resulted in the death of a woman, and the injury of another.
Officers attached to the Blue Mountain Police Area Command and ambulance services were called out late Saturday afternoon to a home in Hazelbrook, in the Blue Mountains where a hatchback had apparently rolled down a drive-way, striking two women.
On arrival first responders found an 89-year old woman trapped under the hatchback.
While paramedics and police worked frantically to free the woman, she passed away.
A 59-year old woman who was struck first was injured in the incident. She was rushed to Katoomba Hospital.
Police have opened an investigation into the incident, which occurred around 4:40pm Saturday, and will be compiling a report for the Coroner.
