KABUL, Afghanistan – A bombing has killed three U.S. soldiers and an American contractor near Bagram Air Base, 50 kilometres north of Kabul in the province of Parwan in Afghanistan.
The Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack which took place on Monday.
A bomb attached to a vehicle was detonated as a convoy on a security patril passed near the vehicle.
Three other soldiers were injured in the blast and were evacuated from the scene. They are reportedly in stable condition.
The Taliban, which is in talks with the U.S. to negotiate a truce, claimed responsibility for the attack.
The latest fatalities take the number of U.S. military personnel killed in Afghanistan this year to seven. There are 14,000 U.S. troops stationed in the war-torn Central Asian country, which is home to six U.S. bases.
