Mugello – Rookie Francesco Bagnaia of Italy, riding a Ducati, was quickest in free practice on Friday for the Italian Moto GP with French rookie Fabio Quartararo in second place on a Yamaha.
It was a tough day for the established contenders for victory on Sunday with Ducati’s Danilo Petrucci in third place while morning pacesetter Marc Marquez could only make sixth.
Further back came Suzuki’s Alex Rins, 7th, while the session was marked by spills for Australia’s Jack Miller, who ended ninth and unhurt on his Ducati and Frenchman Johann Zarco, also unscathed in 12th spot.
