SYDNEY, NSW, Australia – A woman who was badly burned in a fire earlier in the week in the Wollongong suburb of Fairy Meadow, has died in hospital.
The woman was found unconscious inside her burning home, just after 2:00am on Wednesday morning.
Fire and Rescue NSW attended and found a woman and her three grandchildren had escaped the building uninjured; however, a 33-year-old woman was unaccounted for.
Firefighters entered the home and found the woman in a bedroom. She was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics, before being taken to Wollongong Hospital in a critical condition; officers from Wollongong Police District have now confirmed they have been advised the woman has died.
Inquiries, police say, are continuing into the cause of the blaze.
