Woman dies in second fatal road traffic crash in Dunedoo area

CENTRAL WEST, NSW – As a result of Tuesday’s fatal collision between a truck and a car at Dunedoo, in the NSW Central West, two people have now died in road traffic crashes in the same area in a little over 48 hours.

Tuesday’s collision occurred about 10:30am at the intersection of Fairfield Road and The Golden Highway, Dunedoo. Dunedoo is located 97km northeast of Dubbo and 88km north of Mudgee, in the NSW Central West.

The driver of the car a woman died at the scene.

The truck driver, a man, was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

Officers from Orana Mid-Western Police District, and officers from the Crash Investigation Unit have begun their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

They will be having a busy week as they are already involved in the area, following the discovery on Saturday of the body of a 39-year old man in a car in scrub off the Golden Highway, near Turill Road, Uarbry, about 40km east of Dunedoo.

Police believe a crash occurred between 8:00pm on Friday and 10:00am on Saturday.

115 people have died on New South Wales roads since 1 January this year, compared to 116 for the same period in 2020.
