Thieves in Blue Mountains helped by locals leaving cars unlocked

Feb 22, 2019

SPRINGWOOD, Blue Mountains, NSW, Australia – The spate of car burglaries in the Blue Mountains of recent months has continued unabated, with local police becoming frustrated that people continue to leave their cars unlocked – despite repeated warnings.

A high level of burglaries of cars has occurred at Mount Riverview, Faulconbridge, Winmalee, Woodford, Bullaburra and Mount Victoria in the past two weeks.

“What’s disappointing to police is despite their warnings recently, all these vehicles were unlocked that had property inside stolen from them,” police said Friday.

Items that were stolen include laptop computers, wallets, cash and bank and credit cards all.

Police again have urged people to ensure their cars are locked irrespective of where they are parked, and not to leave valuables in their cars.
