Tenders called for $2.5 million rail museum

Tenders have been called for the construction of the planned new Bathurst Rail Museum.

Works include the construction of two extension buildings to be added to the r former Railway Institute Building, where former Prime Minister Ben Chifley worked as a 1st class locomotive engine driver. The Railway Institute Building will be completely refurbished as part of he development, which is being funded by the Bathurst Regional Council, and State and Federal Government grants.

The main future of the museum will be a model train layout of the Bathurst to Lithgow line.

Associated site works, construction of ancillary structures, landscaping and site servicing are included in the works being tendered.

Tenders, which were called for on Tuesday, will close in four weeks, on Tuesday 21 August 2018.
