Stolen ute hits light pole while being pursued by police in Orange

ORANGE, Central West, NSW, Australia – Police in the Central West have nabbed a man in connection with a stolen vehicle.

Around 4:00am Thursday, Central West police were patrolling Lone Pine Avenue in Orange, when they saw a Ford Falcon utility, suspected to be stolen.

Police attempted to stop the vehicle, however the drive of the Ford ute accelerated away. Shorterly after the driver lost control and the vehicle collided with a power pole on Amber Street in Orange.

Two occupants of the suspected stolen vehicle fled the scene and were pursued by police on foot.

A 29-year-old man was caught and arrested by police. He was found to be carrying a knife, a bullet, a screwdriver and was wearing riggers gloves.

Inquiries confirmed the vehicle was stolen.

The man was charged and refused bail by police and appeared at Orange Local Court later Thursday where his bail was refused. He will next appear before Orange Local Court on Monday 8 July 2019.

Central West police said inquiries were continuing to identify and locate the second occupant of the stolen vehicle.
