Single-vehicle crash on Great Western Highway at Lawson

SPRINGWOOD, Blue Mountains, NSW, Australia – A man believed to be in his 30s is in Westmead Hospital in serious condition after he was involved in a single-vehicle collision on Wednesday at Lawson in the Blue Mountains.
The single-vehicle crash occurred just before 2:00am in the early hours of Wednesday morning on the Great Western Highway at Lawson.
When emergency services arrived on the scene the condition of the driver, who was the only occupant in the car, was assessed as sufficiently serious to summon a rescue helicopter to airlift the man to Westmead Hospital in western Sydney.
Police said the vehicle had struck a barrier.
Officers from Blue Mountains Police District have begun inquiries into the cause of the crash.
