Overall it was a busy day for police patrolling NSW roads on Saturday.

In the Blue Mountains on Saturday night, just before midnight, a semi-trailer collided with a car and caught alight.

The Great Western Highway was closed for several hours from the time of the crash until well into the early hours of Sunday morning.

The driver of the semi-trailer, a man aged in his 40s, was uninjured, however the male driver of the car, remained trapped in the vehicle for one-and-a-half hours and was treated by paramedics.
