Road spikes used to stop 20-year old woman fleeing from police

LITHGOW, Central West, NSW, Australia – The woman who led police on a chase through Capertee near Lithgow on Tuesday afternoon, is scheduled to appear before the Lithgow Local Court on Wednesday on a series of charges.

Road spikes had to be used to stop the woman at Lidsdale.

The drama began around1:45pm Tuesday afternoon when police noticed a stolen Holden Astra, travelling south on the Castlereagh Highway, at Capertree.

Police say the car was also wanted following a report the driver of the car had filled up at a Capertree service station and fled the scene without paying.

Police attempted to pull the car over however, the 20-year old woman continued driving, and police were forced to engage in a pursuit.

Road spikes were deployed further down the highway, deflating both rear tyres and forcing the car to stop. The woman was arrested and taken to Lithgow Police Station.

Aside from charges relating to the dispute, and a string of other charges. It was also found she was a disqualified from driving.

She was detained and has been refused bail ahead of her court appearance in Lithgow on Wednesday.
