Lithgow City Council has voted in a new mayor.
Councillor Ray Thompson was elected to the top job for the next two years by a majority vote of 6-3, defeating Councillor and former Mayor Stephen Lesslie in the process.
The election took place at the :Lithgow Council chambers on Monday night.
Councillor Maree Statham also nominated, however her nomination was ruled invalid after failing to raise a seconder.
Councillor Thompson replaces former Mayor Lesslie who held the position for the past 2 years.
Council’s new Deputy Mayor is Councillor Wayne McAndrew who will hold the position for a 12 months term.
Councillor McAndrew defeated Councillor Stephen Ring for the Deputy Mayor’s position 5 votes to 4.
