Police seeking man who fled fire that destroyed vehicle in Bathurst

BATHURST, Central West, NSW, Australia – Police in Bathurst are looking for a man seen running near a car which mysteriously caught fire in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Emergency services were called to a home on Rocket Street at Bathurst at 3:38am on Tuesday following reports of a vehicle on fire.

Fire and Rescue NSW extinguished the fire however the vehicle, along with a portable gazebo was destroyed, while the house sustained minor smoke and heat damage.

Officers attached to Chifley Police District established a crime scene and have commenced an investigation into the matter.

CCTV footage obtained from the area reveals an unknown person running west towards Cummings Street at the time of the incident. It is believed the person could have burns to the hands and arms.
