Police continue search for missing Lithgow man

A search is continuing in the Lithgow area for 56-year old Steven Atwell, who has been missing for more than 24 hours.

A Police helicopter was called in to the search on Friday morning for the local Lithgow man who is described as an avid jogger.

He is believed to have left for his early morning run on Thursday and hasn’t been seen or heard from since.

Mr Atwell’s employer raised the alarm with his family after he failed to turn up for work at 7:00am on Thursday.

A search of well known jogging tracks began on Thursday and has become more widespread on Friday. 

Lithgow Volunteer Rescue Squad. Lithgow Police, and Bathurst Police utilising trail bikes are working in conjunction to co-ordinate the search, and are currently being assisted by the Police helicopter Polair 9.

Mr Atwell was last seen at his Hill Street, Lithgow home.

He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, between 165cm-175cm tall, of an athletic build, and brown hair.
