WENTWORTH FALLS, Blue Mountains, NSW, Australia – Numerous Fire and Rescue NSW stations took part in extinguishing a huge fire that engulfed a large house at Wentworth Falls, in the Blue Mountains on Monday.

The fire broke out Monday morning.

Crews were still on the scene in the late afternoon working to extinguish remaining hot spots.

An investigation into the fire has commenced. Police and members of the Fire Investigation Unit were seen at the site of the fire, at the end of Falls Road, late in the afternoon on Monday.

Falls Road where the house was located was closed to all road traffic and pedestrian traffic.

Two fire brigades from Wentworth Falls arrived initially to find a fully involved house alight. Due to the size of the home and the close proximity to bush land the incident was escalated to a Structure Fire 3rd Alarm.

Additional brigades were called from Leura, Katoomba, Lawson, Springwood and Penrith.

In total the incident had 8 Pumper’s, 1 Logistics Support Vehicle, 1 Heavy Hazmat, 2 Duty Commanders and over 40 firefighters at the scene.

Due to the location of the house an Aerial Pumper was called off from the incident.
