Man winched from state forest near Lithgow

A 40-year old man and a 14-year old boy were rescued from Newnes State Forest near Lithgow on Sunday after a quad bike they were riding, overturned on a bush track near Bungleboori Picnic Area.

The CareFlight rapid response rescue helicopter was called in to assist New South Wales Ambulance crews who were first on the scene.

Medical officials from both organisations treated the man and the boy. The man suffered head and leg injuries, while the 14-year old boy was treated for face and limb injuries

The man was winched out of the state forest by the Careflight helicopter and flown to Westmead Hospital. He was in stable condition. The boy was also transported to Westmead Hospital, but by ambulance.
