Man dead after car leaves highway and crashes at Blayney

BATHURST, Central West, NSW, Australia – A 76-year old man has died in a single-vehicle crash in the state’s Central West.

Two people were travelling in a Subaru Forester on Mid-Western Highway at Blayney Saturday afternoon, when the car left the highway and crashed into a nearby paddock.

Emergency services received a call about the crash around 1:45pm on Saturday and rushed to the scene.

Both occupants of the vehicle, local people from the village of Lyndhurst in the Blayney Shire, were injured. The man, 76, who was driving the car, died at the scene. Officers from Chifley Police District are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. Initial inquiries suggest the man may have suffered a medical episode.
