Man arrested over serious assault in Blaxland in Blue Mountains

SPRINGWOOD, Blue Mountains, NSW, Australia – A man will face court next month after his arrest on Friday over a serious alleged assault in Blaxland, in the Lower Blue Mountains, in late May.

The alleged victim, a 33-year old Blaxland man had his jaw so badly broken in the alleged attack that he had to have three surgical plates inserted.

The man arrested is a 20-year-old from Mt Riverview, a town 2km northeast of Blaxland.

The alleged assault occurred on 29 May 2021. An investigation which involved a review of CCTV footage, and the interviewing of several witnesses, resulted in the man’s arrest on Friday at his Mt Riverview home.

He was taken to Springwood Police Station for questioning.

He was later charged before being released on bail, ahead of his court appearance in August.
