Major works underway at Lithgow Golf Club

Jun 10, 2019

LITHGOW, Central West, NSW, Australia – Upgrading of Lithgow Golf Club is well underway, boosted by a $100,000 NSW state government grant.

The drainage and irrigation systems on the fairways are being upgraded, new cart paths are being developed, expansion of the golf cart and machinery shed is on the cards, along with the installation of solar panels to offset increased future energy costs, due to the new irrigation system.

The club’s Geoff Brooks said the first and 18th tee areas now have underground irrigation as does the practice green in front of the clubhouse while every green has watering system.

“We’ve also been able to put in drainage in areas in some of the really wet areas on the fairways,” he said Monday.

Geoff said the addition of new cart paths was also a great addition to the course.

“The funding has allowed us to put in the paths in high traffic areas that were really rough,” he said. “But the real winner is the portable watering system that we now have. It’s like a long line of hose with sprinkler pods on that can be hooked up to various connection points around the course.”

“Another feature of the funding is the 122-panel solar power on the clubhouse roof which pretty much covers the entire cost of the bill to run the irrigation,” Geoff said.

“The last task to complete is the extension to the shed where we keep our golf carts and that shouldn’t be far away from being completed.”

Local Member, Bathurst MP Paul Toole, who arranged the government grant, recently called in to see the works being carried out and was given a full tour by Geoff Brooks.
