Lightning strikes in Blue Mountains knock out powerlines

Oct 18, 2018

SPRINGWOOD, Blue Mountains, NSW, Australia – Endeavour Energy emergency crews were working to restore power supply to around 8,500 of their customers in the Blue Mountains after lightning struck powerlines on Thursday afternoon.

The lightning strikes interrupted power supply to homes and businesses in Springwood, Winmalee, Faulconbridge, Valley Heights, Linden, Hawkesbury Heights and Sun Valley.

Customers who need power for medical equipment were being urged to check their battery supply and consider acting on their back-up plan.

Affected customers can obtain updates about their own power supplies by:

· calling 131 003 and entering their postcode

· entering their suburb into the power outage application on Endeavour Energy’s website.

· downloading the Endeavour Energy outage app to their smart phone or tablet from iTunes or Google Playstore.

Endeavour Energy said it would like to thank customers currently without power for their patience as work is completed to safely restore their supply.
