Kathy Sajowitz re-elected as Mayor of Oberon

Kathy Sajowitz has been re-elected as Mayor of Oberon. The election took place late last week. She was re-elected unopposed.

Sajowitz was first elected to council almost five years ago, on18 September 2012.

She became mayor at an extraordinary meeting held on 27 July 2015.

The mayor has a busy schedule, serving on the Community Services Committee, Finance Committee, Performance Review Committee, Works Committee, Oberon Youth Council Working Party (Alternate Delegate), Australia Day Working Party, Cemetery Headstone Maintenance Committee, Lake Oberon Cycle/ Walking Tracks Working Party, and the Oberon Common Working Party. 

She is also Council’s representative for CENTROC, the Chifley Local Area Command Community Safety Precinct Committee, the Country Mayors Association (elected to the Executive in November 2017), the Local Government NSW Councils affected by Unrateable Forestry Land Working Party, NSW Public Libraries, the Oberon Arts Council, and the Union Fenosa Pre Development Application Community Consultative Committee.

Also at last week’s meeting, Deputy Mayor Kerry Gibbons was re-elected unopposed.

The deputy mayor is also heavily involved in Council activities, serving on the Finance Committee, Performance Review Committee, Traffic Advisory Local Committee, the Works Committee, and the Oberon Sewer Projects Working Party. He is Chair of the Black Springs Community Hall Committee and the Oberon Sports Facilities Committee.

Deputy Mayor Gibbons additionally represents Council at the National Timber Council Association and the Union Fenosa Pre Development Application Community Consultative Committee.
