Dubbo boy, 14, hit with 41 charges relating to car burglaries

DUBBO, Central West, NSW, Australia – A 14-year old boy will appear before the Children’s Court on Wednesday, facing charges for 41 offences relating to burglaries of cars in Dubbo, in the state’s Central West.

The boy incredibly was caught red-handed just over two weeks ago, and was on bail when he was sighted in the act again last Friday.

The teenager was first noticed, along with several other youths, entering the car park of Dubbo Base Hospital where they broke into 13 vehicles, mostly belonging to family and friends of sick patients in the hospital.

Police attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District were called to the scene and an investigation was commenced. Some hours later the 14-year old boy was arrested in connection with other matters and was released, pending further inquiries.

Last Friday, 5 July 2019, an attempted break-in occurred at a hockey field in Dubbo which lead to the boy being re-arrested on Monday morning.

He is now facing a charge of breaching his bail, as well as 13 offense for breaking in to cars, fourteen offences of destroying property, and 13 larceny offences.

He has been refused bail, ahead of his court appearance on Wednesday.
