Chifley and Blue Mountains among regions to get new police recruits

SYDNEY, NSW, Australia – Two hundred and one new police recruits have joined the New South Wales force, after they were sworn in at the Goulburn Police Academy on Friday.

Locally one of the new officers has been assigned to the Chifley Police District, while one has been allocated to the Blue Mountains Police Area Command.

The neighbouring Orana Mid-Western Police District will get three officers.

Joining Blue Mountains is Probationary Constable Mark Mark.

This year’s intake of Class 336 is very youthful in nature. Thirty-six of the rookies are aged between 19 and twenty, and 108 between twenty-one and 25.

Forty one of the recruits are aged between 26 and thirty; 9 are aged between thirty-one and 35; six are aged between 36 and forty, while there is one officer aged over 40.

The students were attested with the rank of probationary constable and will report to their new stations for work on Monday.

They will then complete 12 months on-the-job training and study by distance education with Charles Sturt University before they officially graduate with an Associate Degree in Policing Practice. The officers will then be confirmed to the rank of constable.
