Car crash victim arrested after being seen trying to hide bag of cash

LITTLE HARTLEY, Blue Mountains, NSW, Australia – A 25-year old man has been charged after a single-vehicle crash around 5:30am on Tuesday, on the Great Western Highway at Little Hartley in the Blue Mountains, 20 kilometres southeast of Lithgow.

Police say they observed a significant amount of debris in the east bound lanes prior to Jenolan Caves Road, Little Hartley, where it appeared a vehicle had left the roadway and hit several road signs.

A white Audi sedan with significant damage, and its two male occupants, were located on Blackman’s Creek Road.

Officers from Chifley Police District allege one of the men, aged 25-years-old, was seen placing a plastic bag containing cash in the bushes alongside the roadway.

He was arrested and taken to Lithgow Police Station, where he was charged with having goods in custody suspected of being stolen.

The man was released on conditional bail, to appear at Lithgow Local Court on Thursday 15 August 2019.
