Burst water main affects water supply in Main Street & Mort Street

Mar 19, 2019

LITHGOW, Central West, NSW, Australia – Water supply in the centre of the city in Lithgow was disrupted by a break in the water main on Tuesday.

The council had earlier confirmed the water supply in the area of Main Street and Mort Street, Lithgow could be affected due to the water main break.

Council said it had experienced a water main break in an area of its reticulation that services the areas of Main Street and Mort Street, from Bridge Street to Lithgow Street. The council said surrounding areas could also experience reduced water pressure and/or no water at all.

Since then repairs have been undertaken to restore the interruption to water supply.

Repairs have been completed to restore normal service.

Upon return of normal service, residents were told they could experience dirty water for a period. Council said it endeavour to minimise this by flushing the mains.

Before using the water for domestic purposes, residents were advised to run a tap to ensure the water is clean and any dirt released into the system has been flushed.
