Boy pulled from pool in Blue Mountains dies in hospital

SPRINGWOOD, Blue Mountains, NSW, Australia – A seven year old boy has drowned in a pool in the Blue Mountains National Park.

The tragedy took place on Sunday afternoon.

The boy went missing a few minutes before 2:00pm Sunday. His parents called emergency services to Jellybean Pool in the Blue Mountains National Park at Glenbrook about half an hour after he had gone missing.

The child was found about 2:45pm by family members and was pulled from the water. CPR was initiated by officers from the Blue Mountains Police Area Command, the Dog Unit and Rescue Squad; it was then taken over by NSW Ambulance paramedics.

A rescue helicopter was deployed and winched a medical team to the scene.

He was rushed to the Nepean Hospital but it has now been confirmed he has since died.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
