Blue Mountains police issue second warning on car burglaries

SPRINGWOOD, Blue Mountains, NSW, Australia – Thefts from cars in the Blue Mountains has prompted police to again warn motorists against leaving cars unlocked and valuables visible.

A spate of car burglaries last week had police going public with a warning. On Tuesday that warning was being repeated and amplfied as the number of thefts has increased.

“Again, Blue Mountains Police have taken a number of reports of theft from vehicles where the victim has left valuables inside their car. We all need to STOP leaving valuables inside our car/s and to LOCK them up,” Blue Mountains Police said in a statement. 

Suburbs hit within the last 48 hours include Glenbrook, Springwood, Linden, Woodford, Hazelbrook, Mount Victoria and Mont Tomah.

Anyone seeing anyone acting suspiciously including looking into cars, houses or yards, should contact Springwood Police on: (02) 4751 0299 OR Katoomba Police on: (02) 4782 8199. Police have said all reports will be investigated regardles sof whether they appear trivial or not.

The issue is not isolated to the Blue Mountains. There have also been extensive reports of similar issues from Bathurst and from Jenolan Caves..
