Blake Sheppeard and Ryan Wells win March 2019 sports awards

LITHGOW, Central West, NSW, Australia – The winners of the LJ Hooker Reg Cowden Memorial Sports Star of the Year Awards for the month of March 2019 have been announced by Lithgow City Council.

The Senior Award for March 2019 was won by local, professional MMA fighter Blake 'Randy Roy' Sheppeard who won big at one of Australia's largest promotions, Eternal MMA in Perth, at HBF Stadium on Saturday, March 2.

Ryan Wells (Athletics) was the winner of the Junior Award for March 2019.

Ryan qualified for the State Little Athletics in four events being High Jump, Triple Jump, 800m and 1500m. During the event Ryan set new PB’s and has qualified to compete in the high jump at the Australian Athletic Championships in Sydney.

"Council extends its congratulations to Ryan and Blake on their achievements, and further encourages the community and local sporting organisations to submit nominations for these awards" Mayor of Lithgow Ray Thompson said Frifay.

Nominations for outstanding sporting achievements in April 2019 will be accepted by Lithgow City Council until 14 May 2019. Nomination forms can be obtained by contacting Council’s Customer Service Department on (02) 6354 9999, or can be downloaded here.
