Bathurst Council and RMS introduce cameras to count traffic

Oct 19, 2018

BATHURST, Central West, NSW, Australia – Bathurst people have begun noticing a number of cameras that have been installed in strategic places across the city.

Chifley police say they too have received inquiries about the cameras.

“These cameras are simply traffic counting, which will help collect important data to form the basis of a strategic traffic model, a project which is being undertaken by Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) and Council,” the Bathurst Regional Council said in a statement Thursday.

“The proposed traffic model will help develop a tool for RMS and Council to manage transport in and around Bathurst to ensure economic growth is supported into the future.”

The council is encouraging residents to ignore the cameras.
