Angry scenes in Lithgow, man arrested

LITHGOW, Central West, NSW, Australia – A 25-year old man appeared at Lithgow court on Friday after a dispute occurred at a home in the town on Thursday night.

About 9.30pm Thursday night, a 20-year-old woman and a 17-year-old boy went to a home on Academy Street, Lithgow, to confront a 25-year-old man in relation to an ongoing dispute.

Several confrontations involving numerous people occurred at the premises.

During one of the confrontations, it is alleged the 25-year-old man produced a compound bow which was used to threaten the 17-year-old boy.

A 17-year-old girl also attended the home, before the trio were directed to leave by the 25-year-old.

Officers attached to Chifley Police District attended the address a short time later following reports of a dispute.

About 3.15am Friday morning, police returned to the Academy Street home where they arrested the 25-year-old man and searched the premises.

A cross bow and several arrows were located and seized.

The man was taken to Lithgow Police Station where he was charged.

He was refused bail ahead of his court appearance later in the day. b
