Action packed weekend of sport across region

It was an action-packed two days of sport across the region on the weekend. In the women’s premier league hockey, Bathurst City beat Lithgow Panthers 5-2 to earn their first premiership since 2011. In the men’s premier league hockey, the Lithgow Panthers beat Bathurst Souths in a nail-biting Grand Final that ended up in extra time, and a penalty shoot-out, which the home side won 3-1.

The New Era Midwest Cup rugby league Grand Final is on this weekend at Wallerawang. The Warriors will do battle with CSU. The Warriors had the weekend off, whereas CSU had a close encounter with the Orange Barbarians in the preliminary final. CSU just edged out the Barbarians, 20-18.

In the Group 10 premier league major semi final, Orange CYMS played their way to the grand final, with a 30 to 12 victory over the Oberon Tigers.

The first division minor semi-final saw the Bathurst Panthers easily account for the reigning premiers the Mudgee Dragons, 38-12.

The Panthers will now meet the Oberon Tigers this coming weekend to determine which side plays Orange CYMS in the Grand Final.

In the Group 10 first division, the Lithgow Workies were too strong for Bathurst Panthers in the major semi-final.
In the first division minor semi-final, Bathurst St Pat’s put an end to Orange CYMS’ season with a gutsy 24-10 win.

Bathurst St. Pat’s will now play the Bathurst Panthers next weekend in the preliminary final, the winner to meet Lithgow Workies in the Grand Final.
The Under 18s minor semi final resulted in a 38-24 win for the Mudgee Dragons over Bathurst Panthers, putting them out of the race.

In the major semi-final it was one-way traffic as Orange Cyms rolled Bathurst St Pat’s 40 to 14.

In the rugby, the Bathurst Bulldogs eliminated Orange City from the running for the Blowes Clothing Cup.

The Bulldogs beat Orange City 37-17 in the elimination final.

In the Central West Rugby Union colts finals series, the Mudgee Wombats put CSU out of the running by beating them 10-5 in the elimination final.

And the Bathurst Bushrangers Outlaws earned their second Central West AFL Grand Final appearance in a row after downing the Bushrangers Rebels, 106 points to 66.

The Bushrangers Outlaws will now play the Orange Tigers in the Grand Final.

In the Womens Central West AFL, the Dubbo Demons beat Orange Tigers in Saturday’s preliminary final. They will now play Bathurst Bushrangers in the Grand Final.
