Oct 8, 2018

MUDGEE, Central West, NSW, Australia – A car containing nine teenage girls overturned a number of times on a farm at Buckaroo near Mudgee, in the state’s Central West on Sunday afternoon.

All 9 girls were injured, eight of them received non life-threatening injuries. A 14-year old girl however was seriously injured and had to be airlifted to the Royal Alexandra Hospital for Children (also known as The Children’s Hospital at Westmead). She remains in critical condition.

Police were told a Toyota Prado containing nine teenage girls had travelled to the property off Edgell Lane, near Ulan Road, Buckaroo, shortly after 1:00pm Sunday afternoon.

Concerns were raised later in the day when they failed to return home.

The car was located by a neighbouring landowner in a paddock about 3:15pm. The car appeared to have rolled a number of times.

The girl who sustained life-threatening injuries was ejected from the vehicle but was found nearby. The other eight girls managed to escape from the car when it came to rest and all have suffered varying degrees of injuries, none of which are life threatening.

Officers from Orana Mid-Western Police District are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
