57-year old man allegedly assaults young police constable in Katoomba

KATOOMBA, Blue Mountains, NSW, Australia – A 57-year old man who allegedly assaulted a 21-year old woman police constable in Katoomba on Sunday night appeared in the Penrith Local Court on Monday.

The court was told the man assaulted the constable while trying to resist arrest. Police had been called to a licenced premises on Katoomba Street, Katoomba on Sunday after reports a man was acting in an offesnsive manner. They attemptted to arrest him, but he resistsed and in the process assualted the police officer.

The constable was taken to Blue Mountains District Hospital for treatment to an elbow injury.

The 57-year-old man was taken to Katoomba Police Station where he was charged with two counts of malicious damage, two counts of excluded person remain in vicinity of licenced premises, two counts of offensive conduct, offensive language, wilful and obscene exposure, resist police and assault police occasioning actual bodily harm.
