4 people rushed to hospital after Blue Mountains crash

LITHGOW Central West, NSW, Australia – A 17-year old boy is in an induced coma, after a head-on collision in the Blue Mountains on Saturday afternoon.

The teenager, who is in critical condition, was taken by helicopter to Liverpool Hospital.

Three other people have been hospitalised following the crash, which occurred on the Bells Line of Road near Bilpin.

Two helicopters were summoned to the scene and both were used to transport victims of the crash to hospitals.

The 18-year old driver of the car in which the 17-year was critically injured, was rushed to Westmead Hospital.

A man and a woman both in their 70s, the only occupants of the other car were taken to Westmead Hospital.

“The most serious of all the injuries was the 17-year-old male who was transported by helicopter to Liverpool Hospital,” NSW Ambulance Inspector Brian Parsell was quoted by The Daily Telegraph as saying.

“He was placed in an induced coma and given a blood transfusion on site.”
