39-year old man killed in single-vehicle collision in Central West

CENTRAL WEST, NSW, Australia – A car with the body of a man at the wheel has been discovered in the New South Wales Central West.

The grim discovery was made on Saturday morning.

The Toyota Corolla was found by a passing motorist in scrub off the Golden Highway, near Turill Road, Uarbry, about 40km east of Dunedoo.

Dunedoo is located 97km northeast of Dubbo and 88km north of Mudgee, in the NSW Central West.

Officers from Orana Mid-Western Police District attended and found what appeared to have been a crash scene. The body of the driver was that of a 39-year-old man. There appeared to have been no other occupant in the car at the time of the apparent crash.

A crime scene was established and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the situation is underway.

Police believe a crash occurred between 8:00pm on Friday and 10:00am on Saturday.

Investigating officers say they will prepare a report for the information of the Coroner.

110 people have died on New South Wales roads since 1 January this year, compared to 115 for the same period in 2020.
