2017 hockey premier league champions are Bathurst City

Aug 28, 2017

In the women’s hockey premier league, Bathurst City picked up their first premiership in six years in a convincing win over Lithgow Panthers at the Lithgow Hockey Club on Saturday.

Going into the game, City was against the odds having been beaten in grand finals by the Panthers four times since they last won the premiership in 2011.

With first points on the board to the home side, it appeared history was about to repeat itself.

It wasn’t to be.

By half time the Bathurst side was two goals in front, and by full time their lead had extended by another goal.

The final score: 5-2.

Bec Bosianek scored two goals for Bathurst City, while Lisa Quinn, Jess Hotham, and Brooke McFadden scored one.

Amlia Leard scored the Lithgow Panthers two goals.
