20-year old youth killed in single-car crash near Mudgee

MUDGEE, Central West, NSW, Australia – A 20-year old youth has been killed in a single-car crash near Mudgee.
The fatal crash took place on Thursday morning around 7:40am.
Emergency services were called to Cope Road, Cope, about 50 kilometres north of Mudgee and nine kilometres north east of Gulgong, after receiving reports a Toyota Hilux had left the road and hit a tree.
The driver and sole occupant, the 20-year-old youth, died at the scene. He is yet to be formally identified.
Thursday’s crash is the second serious single-vehicle crash to have occurred on Cope Road (pictured) in nine days. On 6 November, a woman was critically injured when her car left the road and crashed. She remains in an induced coma.
Officers from Orana-Mid Western Police District have commenced inquiries into the crash and will prepare a report for the information of the Coroner.
Cope Road was closed for some time on Thursday with local traffic diversions in place.
