DUBBO, Central West, NSW, Australia – Two men fronted court in the Central West on Monday on charges relating to multiple police pursuits overnight.

The drama began about 3.45am Sunday when police from Orana Mid Western Police District were patrolling the Dubbo area and tried to stop a beige Nissan Pulsar.

Police say the vehicle failed to stop and a short pursuit was commenced before the vehicle became stuck on railway tracks and the driver, a 21-year old man, and a passenger, a man aged 28, were arrested.

The pair were taken to Dubbo Police Station where the 21-year-old man was charged with reckless driving and driving while disqualified.

It was then learned the 28-year-old man had been involved in three police pursuits in other parts of the state, in the previous 48 hours, prior to the pair driving to the Central West. The pursuits were at Gundagai, Gunning and Wollongong.

The vehicle was impounded and police say further inquiries are being conducted relating to property located inside the car, with the 28-year old man already charged on a stealing offence in relation to the pair’s stopover in Wollongong.

Both men were bail refused ahead of their appearance on Monday at Dubbo Local Court.
