SPRINGWOOD, Blue Mountains, NSW, Australia – It was a busy time for Blue Mountains police on the weekend.

The first of three traffic collisions on Blue Mountains roads occurred on Friday night around 20 minutes to nine when a 49 year old man from Warrimoo crashed his car into an Armco railing in Blaxland. He failed a road side breath test but was taken to Nepean Hospital for treatment. Police are awaiting the blood test result prior to considering whether they will take any action against the driver, however, alcohol is considered to be a factor in the collision.

Also on Friday night, at around 20 minutes to 10, a black Honda Jazz was travelling south along Hawkesbury Road near the radio tower when it left the road and collided with a large gum tree. The force of the impact spun the vehicle into bushland and it was not able to be seen from the road. The driver, a 29 year old woman from Springwood managed to get out of the car but collapsed on the gravel shoulder. She was seen by a passing motorist who called 000. The woman was taken to Nepean Hospital for treatment.

The third collision was just before 2:00am on Saturday in Springfield Cresent at Springwood where a 20 year old youth from Winmalee lost control and mounted an embankment becoming stuck. He failed a road side breath test and was arrested, before being taken to Springwood Police Station. The driver refused to submit to a breath analysis. As a result, he was charged with refusing breath analysis, negligent driving and had his licence immediately suspended. He will appear at Penrith Local Court in early November.
