14-year old boy left for dead after being struck by vehicle

SPRINGWOOD, Blue Mountains – A 14-year old boy is in serious condition at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead after being struck by a vehicle on the Bells Line of Road at North Richmond.
The driver of the vehicle is now being sought after failing to stop and render assistance to the boy, who is suffering head injuries and suspected fractures.
The incident occurred on the western side of the North Richmond Bridge around 9:20pm on Monday night.
A passing motorist stopped when he saw the boy lying on the side of the road and called police, who summoned an ambulance.
The 14-year old was treated at the scene by New South Wales Ambulance paramedics before being airlifted to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead in what police described as a serious but stable condition.
